This session will introduce a range of interventions involving reminiscence and life story work for improving emotional wellbeing and mental health in older adults

Keynote speaker: Quality of life and the built environment

Professor Richard Fleming

The session will involve consideration of the application of a number of design principles that have been found to be associated with the quality of life of people living with dementia across a range of settings.

Incorporating humour into our practice can initially be challenging and uncomfortable. But like everything, it gets easier with practice.  This workshop will provide an interactive opportunity to use humor while examining our perspectives and strengthening our clinical skills.

Workshop session 2

During this workshop, you’ll practise identifying which types of interventions are best suited to different settings and client populations through group case studies and also by considering your own workplace and clients.

You will also have the opportunity to practice the skills involved in reminiscence and life story interventions with your peers.

Workshop session 3

Professor Richard Fleming

This workshop will give you the opportunity to practise analysing environments using the design principles you learned during the morning keynote.

We will explore some case studies together and then you’ll have time to consider and discuss the environment of some of your clients with the option of using an online tool to assist with your environmental assessment.
