Childhood Trauma Questionnaire

CTQ is comprised of 28 items and five scales that assess different types of childhood trauma: Physical, Sexual, and Emotional abuse, and Physical and Emotional neglect. The questionnaire also includes a Minimisation/Denial scale for individuals who may be under-reporting traumatic events.

Interpretive guidelines help identify a likely case of abuse at one of three levels of severity; mild, moderate and severe. The manual includes advice about clinical uses of the instrument – as an aid in treatment plans, in conducting child custody investigations and in assessing special populations. The manual also addresses issues such as the accuracy of traumatic memories and threats to the validity of trauma reports.
