Episode 4

"This report didn’t just explain my child, it explained our whole life.’ That’s the power of assessment."

Renee Testa, Psychologist

Listen to Renee's story

The WNV is ideal for psychologists who need a nonverbal measure of ability for individuals who are not English-language proficient, or have other language considerations.

Designed for Linguistically Diverse Populations

When language poses a barrier to typical administration, or where traditional intellectual assessment results would be questionable due to language-related difficulties, the WNV is appropriate for all individuals.

Innovative Pictorial Directions Make Administration Easy and Effective

WNV Test Administration

With the unique pictorial directions, there is no need to pantomime instructions. The native language of the examinee is irrelevant to performance and flexible standard administration allows help when appropriate.

WNV is suitable for:

  • Individuals from diverse backgrounds including Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islanders

  • English language learners (e.g. migrants, refugees & remote indigenous groups)

  • Hard of hearing or individuals that are deaf

  • Gifted individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse populations

  • Individuals with language difficulties or disorders

  • Individuals with low-incidence disorders, such as Aphasia and Autistic Disorders

Language Diversity Doesn’t Mean Having to Use Several Different Tests

The WNV is ideal for use in schools with individuals from multiple language backgrounds, and provides supplemental directions in several languages.

Ideal for low incidence disorders such as:

  • Cerebral palsy

  • Autistic disorders

  • Hard of hearing or deaf individuals

  • Aphasia

  • Expressive language disorders

  • Receptive language disorders

  • Physical disabilities

  • Specific language impairments

Flexibility with the Choice of Full Battery or Brief Version

Both versions are available within each WNV kit. Different sets of subtests are administered according to the examinee’s age – each subtest measures general ability in a different way.

Full battery subtests include:

  • Matrices

  • Object Assembly

  • Coding

  • Recognition

  • Spatial Span

  • Picture Arrangement

 Brief version:

  • Two subtests

  • Yields a single ability score
