PIPA is a phonological awareness test that has been developed in the UK with norms for both UK and Australian populations. Three of the authors are from the University of Queensland and data was collected on 583 students from Brisbane.
PIPA has 6 subtests that assess the child’s ability to detect, isolate, manipulate and convert sound units at the syllable, onset-rime and phoneme level:

The test is easy to administer and features full colour stimuli to maintain the interest of young children. The Record Form includes a summary table and profile graph and results yield subtest standard scores and percentiles, with the UK data also having Confidence Intervals. Australian and UK norms tables are presented in separate appendices. The manual also has a number of case examples.
