The Conners 3rd Edition™ (Conners 3™) is the result of five years of extensive product development and research. Based on the solid findings and key elements of its predecessor, the Conners’ Rating Scales–Revised (CRS–R™), the Conners 3 offers a more thorough assessment of ADHD. The Conners 3 now addresses comorbid disorders such as oppositional defiant disorder and conduct disorder. Each parent, teacher, and self-report form is available in full-length and short versions.

As with its predecessor, the new Conners 3 is a multi-informant assessment. Gathering information from parents, teachers and youth provides a view of the child’s disorder and concerns from multiple perspectives.

Multi-informant

The Conners 3™ provides the mental health professional multi-informant rating scales—parent, teacher and self-report, allowing the clinician to build support for the diagnostic process. The Conners 3 has a high level of consistency in the scales across raters, allowing for easy interpretation of multi-informant assessments.
The clinician will be able to critically examine where there are discrepancies between the informants, highlight certain behaviours, and easily compare results.

Conners 3 (full-length forms)

The full-length form is a comprehensive tool that can be used as part of the diagnostic process. The parent form includes 110 items, the teacher form includes 115 items, and the self-report form includes 99 items. These full-length forms are excellent in identifying the specific needs of each youth as well as areas that require attention and focus.

New and innovative features include:

  • Three new validity scales (positive impression, negative impression, and inconsistency index) increase confidence in the informant’s responses
  • Addition of an assessment of executive functioning to parent and teacher forms
  • Identify youth who require immediate attention and intervention with the new severe conduct critical items
  • Added screener items for both anxiety and depression
  • The ability to measure how problems are impacting a child’s life at home, school, and with friends with the addition of impairment questions

Conners 3 Short Forms

The Conners 3 also gives clinicians the choice of using a short form. The short form, consisting of 43 items on the parent form, 39 on the teacher form, and 39 on the self-report form, is an excellent tool for screening large groups of students who may require additional assessment. This form is beneficial when the assessment is repeated a number of times and/or when administration time is limited. The short form is useful in monitoring the success of treatment programs over long periods of time. The short form provides you with the strongest items from the full form’s empirical scales and includes positive and negative impression indices for all informants.

Conners 3 ADHD Index

The Conners 3 moves forward with a refreshed 10-item Conners 3 ADHD Index (Conners 3AI). The items are taken from the Conners 3 full-length form and are the perfect tool when time is of the essence. The brief index also works well when you need to screen a large group of children and adolescents to see if further assessment of ADHD is warranted. Additionally, this form can be used to monitor the effectiveness of treatment plans, and measure the patient’s response to intervention.
The items were specifically selected for this form and are proven to be the best items in differentiating between youth with ADHD from those without a clinical diagnosis.
The Conners 3AI is included in the full-length Conners 3 or can be purchased separately.

Conners 3 Global Index

The Conners 3 Global Index (Conners 3GI) is a fast and effective measure of general psychopathology. It includes the 10 best predictive items from the trusted market leader, CRS–R, parent and teacher rating scales. These items have remained unchanged however the normative data has been updated.

Professionals can rely on the Conners 3GI to carefully measure the general psychopathology of their clients and determine the next steps to take in further examination.

The Conners 3GI is included in the full-length Conners 3 or can be purchased separately.
