This program is designed for primary educators and classrooms. It helps students understand and regulate emotions, improve behaviour, and enhance peer relationships.
It provides teachers with a class-wide screening tool to better identify and support SEL (Social Emotional Learning) needs, using components from the SSIS-SEL assessment.
Aligned with the CASEL framework and state curricula, this virtual session enhances educators' capacity to assess and teach the five SEL competencies.

This training is designed for Primary Educators.
Course Description
The program ensures Primary Classroom teachers will have access to a unique, class-wide screening tool to improve identification and support for SEL (Social Emotional Learning) needs in the classroom using components from the SSIS-SEL assessment. Fully aligned with the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL) framework and other state-based curricula, this virtual learning session has been designed to improve capacity of educators to assess and explicitly teach skills in the five SEL competencies.
This course is designed as a whole-school implementation, with this program allowing for up to 10 staff members to attend the learning. If your school requires training for numbers greater than 10 staff members please contact info@pearsonacademy.com.au.
Learning Outcomes
After attending this session, participants will be able to:
- Apply a Response to Intervention (RTI) model to class-wide screening for SEL needs.
- Explain how the SSIS-SEL reinforces and applies State and National SEL curricula.
- Administer and interpret results using the SSIS-SEL in the classroom.
- Confidently instruct and support student learning of the five SEL competencies.
- Apply specific and relevant small group interventions based on the results of the Screener.
- Develop and deliver strategies for referring students with higher SEL needs.
